From $45 · 30-minute lesson

The best drummers aren't the ones who play the most notes. They're the ones everyone else in the band can lean on. So lessons start with time and feel — playing with a metronome until it's second nature, locking in a groove, making simple beats sound great — and build fills, independence, and speed on top of that.

In-home lessons are the natural fit for drums: you learn on the kit you actually practise on, set up the way you play it. Studio lessons are an option too, and Zoom works well for technique and reading on a practice pad.

Time you can trust

Metronome work, subdivision, and feel — the fundamentals that make you the drummer bands want.

Rudiments that transfer

Singles, doubles, paradiddles, and flams, turned into fills and grooves you'll actually use.

Learn the beats behind the songs you love, then play along to the records.

On your own kit

In-home lessons happen on your drums, set up the way you play them. Zoom works for technique on a pad.

Frequently asked questions

How much are drum lessons?
On a monthly plan, lessons are $45 for 30 minutes, $60 for 45, or $75 for 60; a single lesson is $10 more. Online lessons cost the same as studio lessons. In-home lessons add travel at $100 an hour of round-trip drive time from Athens — roughly up to $65 within 15 miles, and up to about $220 at 50 miles. Full details are on the pricing page.
Can you teach drums at my house?
Yes — in-home lessons anywhere within 50 miles of Athens. For drums it's often the most practical option, because you learn on your own kit.
Do I need a drum kit?
To practise between lessons you need something to play on. Many drummers start with a practice pad and sticks, and an electronic kit is the quiet option for home. Ask before you buy — setup and size matter.
Can drum lessons work on Zoom?
For technique, rudiments, and reading, yes — on a practice pad or a kit with a good camera angle. Video calls have a slight delay, so we can't play together in real time; studio or in-home lessons are better for groove and feel. Turning on Zoom's "original sound for musicians" setting helps.
Do I need hearing protection?
Yes. Drums are loud enough to damage hearing over time. Earplugs made for musicians keep the sound clear while protecting your ears — it's covered in the first lesson.
